Evangel Theological Seminary is an accredited seminary located in the U.S. with a vision to
reach the world with sound Biblical teaching through in person training as well as
utilizing current electronic media resources.
Our Story
​In 1982, Evangel Theological Seminary opened its doors under the direction of its founder and first President, Dr. Robert Reichard, Jr. His vision was to provide a quality theological education to a wide spectrum of students, many of whom already had families and were bi-vocational.
The implementation of this vision was revolutionary in the early 80’s, because it required ETS to hold classes in “cluster locations”. In other words, the instructors would go to where the students were, instead of asking them to uproot and come to a specific geographical location. This paradigm allowed numerous men and women to take theology classes and receive degrees who would have never otherwise been able to do so.
If current technological advances were available then, these classes would have been taught via Zoom or some other internet connectivity platform. Today, we see this happening consistently throughout the field of education, but at that time it was very rare to enjoy that type flexible learning environment.
While ETS still offers degree programs, in 2009 God began to shift Evangel’s focus to the international arena; specifically to training pastors and church leaders in developing nations. These men and women simply do not have opportunities or resources for formal Biblical training available to them. Most are pastors by calling, not by training.
When the Lord laid this opportunity on our hearts, we had no way of knowing how strategic and well received this training would become. To date, we have trained over 1,700 pastors and church leaders in 6 developing nations in Africa.

In many ways, the DNA of Evangel hasn't changed since its inception. We are still going to where the students are, but traveling much further distances to do so.
We count it a privilege help these men and women receive sound Biblical, foundational training through our School of Practical Ministry, which was developed by Evangel in 2007. This certificate program has been life changing for so many who have gone through the school so far. Statement of Faith
WHAT WE BELIEVE:

• In the Divine inspiration and inerrancy of the Scriptures contained in the Old and New Testaments.
• That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
• In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His substitutionary and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His future return to earth in power and glory to judge the living and the dead.
• In the Holy Spirit, God present with us for guidance, comfort, and empowerment.
• That the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
• That the work of regeneration, by the Holy Spirit for salvation, is absolutely essential.
• That the baptism in the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4 is given to all believers who ask for it.
• In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a holy life.
• In the church, the Body of Christ, where Christ followers express their love for God through worship, engage in fellowship and are equipped for service.
• In the resurrection of the saved to eternal life and the lost to eternal separation from God.
